Expensive electronics

Post by Guest » Wed, 26 Jan 2005 3:45 pm

When I went to Singapore from Switzerland, everybody told me, that electronics are always available there first and for the best price. But actually after 3 month of staying in Singapore i realised that the prices in Switzerland are mostly for notebooks and handphones cheaper and even new modells are available at "home" first!
So what the heck. Am I looking at the wrong places? Sim Lim, Funan

sim lim square's inevitably the best place to shop for electronics and computer stuff.

They are also quite well-stocked and early in arrival for new items...don't see how come you would feel they're not as gd..

If you're a foreigner then you might want to get a local friend along otherwise there can be instances that foreigners can get 'ripped'.

Do some homework, walk around and compare prices before commiting.

Check prices on Hardware Zone before buying anything. They list the names of the shops as well, so go there and you will get the best prices.

I really doubt that Switzerland could be cheaper than Singapore.

After purchasing my bluetooth jaba from Sim Lim, I was quite disappointed to find it 30 dollar cheaper in Tampines, by the MRT

So I would take sim lim with a pinch of salt. it appears to my that Sim Lim has developed a name for the mug tourist! I would shop around if I was you.

How to shop at Sim Lim

Go to at least 5 stores and ask their price. It doesn't take long and you will be amazed at the variances.

Also check on HardwareZone (Singapore) before going. They have prices for all the latest tech (incl. shop names).
