Receiving a parcel sent via Royal Mail UK

Post by Barnsley » Tue, 22 Dec 2015 4:31 pm

Hello All,

Does anybody know who Royal Mail usually use as a delivery partner in Singapore?

Date Time Status Track point
18/12/15 AM ON ITS WAY TOSINGAPORE SINGAPORE
18/12/15 04:25 ARRIVED (MDN) AT HEATHROW WORLDWIDE DC

I assume this means it left UK on 18th.

I have a tracking number from Royal Mail , but Singpost doesnt have that in the system.

:D

The first 4 or 5 digits supposed to indicate the local counterpart.

Once for me it came via Aramex.

Regular small packages were always delivered to me with the regular mail.
Until it really gets to SG you won't see anything under the local system.
It takes up to 10 day under normal circumstances (not high season) to have it arrived.

Aramex uses local carriers like ninja van and their (Aramex'es) tracking does not necessarily meet my expectations as of this type of the services.

I am guessing that the parcel left UK on 18th n arrive 19th , I suppose it now has to go through Singapore customs .....

Ah well , I will just wait n keep checking.

Tracking starts RO

Why do you think it should arrive on 19th? You may expect this kind of speed from Fedex or similar carriers, but if this was a standard mail, just RA, don't be surprised receiving it next week or even in January.

It left UK on 18th , so I assumed it arrived in Singapore on 19th , it then have to clear customs

Not sure why do you assume it is going to take 1 day. From my experience it was never the case. It is not like they hand it over to a BA pilot at the already waiting airplane. You will see. Just as you said, check from time to time the singpost tracking and if lucky in 2-3 days may be here.

Buying books from Book Depository in the UK usually has Royal Mail posts arriving in 4 to 5 days from notification of shipping sent.

"5 days does seem a bit extreme though!!"
Not during Christmas time. Singpost is overwhelmed by the No of parcels/mails in times like this (another disaster period is during CNY) and this is just a regular mail. From my experience they can not even handle properly EMS during these two periods.

It likely left the UK and probably is in some kind of grey zone in Singapore waiting to be checked in.
I made a few times the mistake ordering some stuff via Singpost (EMS/Speedpost) during Christmas/CNY and never experienced anything like this in my entire life so I can only guess regular mail may get even worse treatment.

I had a small parcel mailed from KL on the 14th. It arrived at midnight on the 16th in Singapore according to Malaysia Pos tracking. I've still not received it. (Tracking stopped at 00:00:00 arrived in Singapore).
