Hi all, my father got PR through investment and I am a dependent PR from my father. However, his re-entry permit was expired and so did mine. We tried to appeal for renewal of REP but received no luck as my father stays out of Singapore for most of the time.
I want to ask, if my father leaves Singapore with his expired re-entry permit, but does not officially renounce his PR status at the ICA, he would probably lose his PR status. However, if I do not leave Singapore, will my PR status be affected?
Thank you in advance!

Not until you walk out of Singapore the 1st time, then that's all she wrote.
Although they can rescind it if they want, I've never heard of it being done unless there were some sort of wrongdoing or something.

Hi Sundaymorningstaple, really appreciate your prompt reply!

That means I can still studying in Singapore government school with my PR status if I do not leave Singapore, right?

Yes.... (esp if you have a blue IC). The only issue may come up is if some smart clown asks to see your REP and notices it has expired.
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or
http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!

Even that doesn't matter. As long as you don't leave Singapore and you haven't broken any serious laws, your PR will be intact. In fact, and I've related this before on this board, I went without an REP for 15 months between 2004 & 2005. But, as noted, if you leave, it's a signal of voluntarily giving up your PR. It's a little bit different if you happen to be overseas when it expires. Normally, you can pay a $100 fine and it will be reinstated, provided you still qualify and you can provide a valid excuse as to why it wasn't renewed at an overseas mission.

In A large shipyard, the HR policy says printout of REP, .. plus, get this - physically present the journey performed page
How many PRs keep that yellow paper?

Yes, in fact HR where I worked as for it when I joined. Their reasoning was to see if they could skip out paying my CPF (i.e. the ramped up CPF rates for first three years).

On, the Shipyard I mentioned knew the candidate has been a PR for more than 5 years, but still, per 'POLICY', wanted to see it - no copies.

Hello, everyone, i would like to appreciate all the replies!
Some updates. My parents actually left singapore with expired REPs this year Jan. My status is still PR as long as I stay inside Singapore. However, my mom wants to visit me in Singapore. Hence, she applied for visitor VISA but the officer asked her to return her IC to the ICA.
Hence, I returned her IC to the ICA on her behalf. Now, she needs a VISA to come into Singapore to deal with some admin stuff for CPF and bank accounts.
However, when she applied for visitor VISA, she was told that she is likely to be rejected by the ICA.
May I know what should I do now?

Hi PNGMK
My father is still holding PR, his IC is still valid. However, he cannot visit Singapore due to an expired REP. I think he can still retain his PR if he got very promising investments?? That's what I inferred from the ICA officer.
Since my mom has submit the IC. She is regarded as a foreigner now.
I am still a PR.
yess haha my case is really rare i guess

It is not an IC what makes your father PR and in Singapore, the expired REP + living abroad = no PR any longer. If he wanted to retain the PR status he should have never left Singapore after his REP expired (or let it expired after he left).
He may be lucky to get back his PR but it is not necessary as easy as investing a bit of money in a little something but more like a few millions of dollars. A complicated status of your family may not help with this neither.
