Carousell books not from Singapore

Post by Xunlic » Mon, 14 Dec 2015 11:08 pm

If I were to buy 10 books in let say from China , hand carry it into SG and sell it in Singapore on m-commerce platform e.g. carousel , isit illegal?

Assumptions
- books are without "only for sale in China"

Hmm.. Can someone kindly point me the direction of legislature I should be looking at with regards to this? I've done some search but can't really find a proper source regarding this.

You must register a business (sole proprietorship) or company (LLC, Pte Ltd, etc) with ACRA before you can legally conduct business.

And that's assuming you are a Singapore citizen or PR. Otherwise, you cannot do it at all.

i dun think it is that strict.

10 books are not that alot and can sell in carousell. Unless you are selling a whole load of books such as 100 over, than yes you will need to register as sole proprietor.

And no matter if you are registered or not, you still need to declare your earnings -check out IRAS site for more info.
