Hello,
First of all, this forum really informative, thanks to all.
I'm on EP and will be applying DP for my spouse and childrens. May I know if there is a minimum stay policy for dependent pass?

Re: Dependent Pass Minimum Stay
The Dependent Pass is tied directly to your EP. When it epires, their DP also expires. It should be renewed when your EP is renewed.

Re: Dependent Pass Minimum Stay
Are you asking whether the person holding the DP has to be present in Singapore some particular minimum percentage of time? If that's the question, as far as I know there's no minimum as such. There is a practical minimum in order to complete DP-related formalities (i.e. get a DP card).
If the DP holder isn't going to be in Singapore much at all, then why bother with a DP at all? They aren't free, unlike STVPs. And a DP might be inseparable from certain tax consequences.

Hi BBCWatcher,
Thank you for your reply. You are correct that was my question.

What tax consequences might those be?BBCWatcher wrote:And a DP might be inseparable from certain tax consequences.
The DP makes sense to avoid immigration SVP hassles, especially if a visa is required.

especially if you are from countries where the passport holder's country does everything to make "DEPARTING" passenger's life difficultStrong Eagle wrote:What tax consequences might those be?BBCWatcher wrote:And a DP might be inseparable from certain tax consequences.

A DP will eliminate needless trouble, or irritation or sometimes offloading (yep, some Asian countries do it, offloading an average of 1 passenger per flight seems to be the norm now ... )
