Advice needed Sentosa

Post by soulsearching » Thu, 03 Dec 2015 4:46 pm

Hi,

how is Sentosa as a place to live? We came across a deal from an agent, but dont know much about the area. Whats the nearest is MRT. How is it to travel to CBD etc.
The condo is called Oceanfront, so don't know anyone lives out there. But generally want to get the feel from locals (people out in Singapore).

Any advice will be sincerely appreciated.

One of my colleagues lives there. It's more for the experience of living "out of Singapore". Rent there for 2 years, enjoy the experience, and go back to the city. People living them don't take public transport. Although there is a free shuttle bus that will drop you off at the nearest MRT station.

Its for those who want to live away from the locals , i.e. for those with lot of spare cash.

In any case, if you drive, it should be ok.

Oceanfront is at the end of Ocean Drive, so you'd have a view of either St. Johns & Lazarus Island or of the One Degree 15 marina.

There are many Sentosa condο residents without cars.
Residents can apply for an EZ-Link resident's card that allows them to use the shuttle bus from the Cove Village (old Arrival Plaza) out to VivoCity & the Harbourfront bus exchange for $0.90 each way. Internally, there's another smaller shuttle bus that takes you from Oceanfront to the Cove Village that's free. Even those that have cars use this.

The shuttle runs every 20 minutes during peak hours, every half-hour off-peak.
It takes half-an-hour to get to the Harbourfront MRT.
If you've got a decent mobile data plan or travel with friends the time goes by very quickly.

From the Harbourfront station, Google Maps' directions (using public transport) shows it will take another half hour to get to Raffles Place (CBD).
