Plastic Surgery in Bangkok or Singapore

Post by Thaipat » Tue, 25 Jan 2005 12:57 pm

While researching plastic surgeons in Singapore, I just discovered this site so thought I would give it a try. I actually live in Bangkok and have visited a recommended surgeon here. Plastic surgery is big here and it seems most expats choose surgeons located at Bumrungrad Hospital which is internationally certified and American managed.

I consulted with a physician there. His credentials were good (researched him on the American Board of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons website). My concern, and reason for extending my search to Singapore (which has a great reputation for quality medical care) is that some of the technology he uses is quite outdated compared to procedures now being done in the States. I suspect this may be the case with many of the surgeons here. Prices are cheap, but if the technology is outdated then one has to factor this in.

I am considering a face and forehead lift. I would like to know if anyone has experience with Bangkok and if so, their thoughts. Am also interested in how Singapore compares in quality of work and prices. Bangkok is about $5,500 for a complete facelift. This is about 1/4 what it would cost in the States. I have read, Singapore's medical industry is suppose to be world class, but I get a feeling otherwise from reading some of these postings.

Sounds like you thought about it for some time which is good.
You are right about going only for the best when it is concerning your face, after all that is what most people see of you and is the first impression.

If you want the latest techniques its wise to go for an American or European trained surgeon. It's not that they are better, they are just more up to date with the latest techniques and when you are thinking about a facelift then the latest will mean less scars and more natural results.

I hade mine (full facelift) done with an American trained and qualified surgeon who has over 18 years experience in the states and came back to asia about a year ago. The price was Sing$ 5350.

Is it possible to forward doctor details via this format. I would like to check this US trained and practicing physician out on the web?
