Can I apply for PR while overseas (Sporean's spouse)?

Post by Vphan » Sun, 01 Nov 2015 5:57 pm

Hello,

I am married to a Singaporean, but he is living and working in SG, while I am working in Sydney. I'm looking to going back to Singapore as soon as possible to be with him.

I have 2 options regarding visa, which are: PR or LTVP.

1/ PR: Can I apply for PR while living and working in Sydney? I've read in some forums that it is possible. I can send application to the Embassy and they will forward to ICA. But I'd like to hear some more feedback from here.

I used to study and work in Singapore for 9 years. Professional job and decent pay. Recently relocated to Sydney for work and got married, hence planning to return.

If possible, how long will it usually take to get result?

Anyone has similar experience to share? Greatly appreciate it!!

2/ LTVP: If PR is impossible, I will opt to apply for LTVP.

How long will it take? Can I work under this visa?

Thank you so much for your advice,
Vphan

1. Yes but chances of a successful application may be lower but it has been done. One of the sticking points is three years of tax returns (for example). I would pursue it after living in Singapore for a few years.
2. You could get a LTVP + (with working rights). It is relatively straight forward to obtain but you need to be in Singapore (I think) to get it.
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!
