Yet another move to Singapore
Re: Yet another move to Singapore
That bird is something. Completely forgot about it. Made me laugh.

They lay their eggs in crows nests, classing them as 'brood parasites'. A handy strategy for a feckless parent?

You see hawks being mobbed by crows too, but that's down to them preying on crow chicks.
We've had koels at the last two places we've lived, they like hanging out in the tops of the huge acacia [?] trees. The first time I knew of them being culled was upon hearing two very loud bangs and just knowing it was a fire-arm. That - in the context of SG - was a WT*!? moment

Thanks... will look into it !!
Re: Yet another move to Singapore
I lived in tanah Merah for 3 years, with young kids. It's quiet in regards to there being f@@k all around you, it's noisy in that the a380s and mrt trains can be heard (the smaller 2 jet planes are not normally an issue). If you come on your own and you're a young man who wants to party, it's not hugely convenient for the city once the mrts stop. Frankly, if you can get a transfer to KL, it's much nicer

Re: Yet another move to Singapore
hmm.. noise of the airport. thats a bit of a concern...
Re: Yet another move to Singapore
To be honest, it's only the big jets, the a380s and frankly, it stops about 11pm and was only about once every hour when I lived there 2 years ago. How quiet do you want it? It's Singapore, unless you live in some shack in some ulu part of the country, there is noise everywhere! My suggestion is, if noise is an issue don't move to singapore. Move to Malaysia and commute in.

chua chu kang perhaps...
I'll check it out when I get there in a few weeks. 11pm is fine. If not, perhaps the Bedok area.
