"....and is proficient with english?"
Apparently you are not all that proficient English . You last sentence is a bit of a mess as well.

Good luck with that plan. Either you'll get out in a year or so, or end up staying for a decade...0622020kau wrote:Hi peekeje,
I'll be in this country for three-five years, I think.

No. Never applied for SC. Now it's doubtful as I'm already past retirement age (according to the government, but my boss has more or less locked me in till 75 (which is only 6 years away anyway). No sense in them giving me SC now, that I'm older and actually likely to need medical care at some point, why give me SC so they can give me more subsidies for medical expenses. That's about all it's worth, frankly speaking.

That's true. Some companies tries to stick people in for a Long period. At least, you are happy with the work place. Aren't you?sundaymorningstaple wrote:No. Never applied for SC. 40 years.. that was a different time I guess. They wanted people to come make up their now "cosmo" culture. It was commercially inclined then, it is even more so now. They'll keep you here as long as you can serve their national agenda. It's all nice the talk about being a seamless, "invisible hand" driven citizenship, but they talk about the fabric the country is made of, and that future is looking dreary, very dreary...sundaymorningstaple wrote:No. Never applied for SC. And good luck trying to stay here or finding a new place to settle in when you're 75. Bet you realize there's no kind comfort waiting for you out there unless you're reasonably wealthy. (but hey if it feels better, you're not alone!)
