Received this email. What action should I take?
"I regret to inform you that we learnt yesterday (16 October) that the website that we use to enrol delegates for xxx events and to sell xxx merchandise in Asia (xxx.org) has been the subject of a data attack.
We have found out that as a result, the name, address, telephone number and/or email address that you provided when making a purchase have been accessed and published on a public forum pastebin.com. "

If this is "only": the name, address, telephone number and/or email address; then - none (with a conditional exception mentioned below); if inclusive of your CC details, then block the card.
Besides, if the password you use for that affected site is the same you use in any other place then change the passwords on all the sites it was used.

Pastebin.com is a place hackers (good or bad) and criminals paste stolen information. Some paste it for free to show off their hacking prowess and I am led to believe some paste a sample to show the quality of their wares before offering to sell the rest of the data dump to whoever wants it.

Well, first things first. Does it make sense to you? I mean, do you have any idea about the website being noted [not pastebin of course]. Did you do any type of transaction, because if you did, as mentioned above it is best to have your card blocked and any passwords changed. It is best to at least render the information they posted publicly as null as it can be.
It used to be a code sharing site primarily, however, the convenience it brings, and the capability of hackers to advertise their stolen data for sale to the highest bidder made it more of a data storage facility before transactions are completed between shady parties.

Pastebin is a code sharing site primarily, it can be used pseudo-anonymously and therefore has attracted those wanting to make textual data pu locally available. It's a useful site though, as it only hosts text, it doesn't run scripts and is fairly safe to visit if you are being nosey. And yeah, change your passwords/block cards!
