I don't recall an expiry date on the license, unless you were on EP, where the license expires with your pass (or so .. )NCD22 wrote:All, my Sing driver's license expired in 2014 and I am in the process of moving back. Does anyone know if I need to retake all the tests or if I can simply go in and get a new license? Thanks!
Hi bgd, are you still riding? I am hoping I can renew my SG license, which expired 8 years ago.
My Singapore DL expires next year, so I’ll get one last renewal (until 2029) in before we leave. Presumably that’ll give me until 2032 to renew without reconverting.Wd40 wrote: ↑Mon, 12 Jun 2023 12:11 pmJust to update here, you need to renew your license 3 years after its expiry date. If you fail to do it, you need to convert your foreign driving licence again.
My India license is very old from 2004, so the TP guys told me to get a new one. My India license will anyways expire next year, so during my next India trip I need to get it renewed.
Now I wonder what the issue date of my new India license will be, will it be the original 2004 issue date or the new issue date? If it is new 2024, then I guess I am screwed because I won't be able to convert it.
Anyways this is my own doing, so myself to blame.
Your new Indian DL would not have 2004 as issue date.Wd40 wrote: ↑Mon, 12 Jun 2023 12:11 pmJust to update here, you need to renew your license 3 years after its expiry date. If you fail to do it, you need to convert your foreign driving licence again.

Just to update, my Indian renewed license, shows date of issue as 2004, the original issue date. I renewed it early by 6 months, may be that matters or may be not. Ideally the date of issue should always be the original date.Ignorant1 wrote: ↑Thu, 15 Jun 2023 10:10 amYour new Indian DL would not have 2004 as issue date.Wd40 wrote: ↑Mon, 12 Jun 2023 12:11 pmJust to update here, you need to renew your license 3 years after its expiry date. I speak from experience . I came to Singapore in 2012 and got my Dl converted in 2023 .
I suggest try your luck to convert your Indian licence now . You can show your EP . Unless you get very thorough person at the counter , you should be able to do it . Else you will end up spending time and money to get it converted next year.
