Real hardware stores in Signapore
Are there any?
I don't mean those dinky little "DIY" stores in malls which rarely have much for people who actually do DIY work, but where one can find a variety of tools, parts and supplies.

Best place I have found is the Handyman Centre at Shaw Centre. He moved while they did some refurb and I am not sure if he is back in the old place or what. Maybe call first.

I have a masterpro downstairs in Enterprise Hub on Toh Guan Road East. There are a number of locations throughout Singapore. Not too bad.

Do a forum search on 'Handyman'. That shop and it's move has been discussed before at some length with other suggestions.
Incl some great online retailers I've used (RS Components? and AN Other) that were simply *amazing* for sourcing and finding some pretty damned obscure stuff.

As close as you'll ever get to a Home Depot in Singapore.

Not sure why I didn't think about Horme! I just purchased an 8.25" Makita Circular Saw from their online store about a month ago and had it delivered to my office. I haven't been out to their Ubi store for a number of year now. It was still Homely back in those days.

there are several in Jurong East many of them hole in the wall places.
To get there early is on time and showing up on time is late

Re: Real hardware stores in Signapore
Anyone care to loan me a circular saw for a few hours? Or the poorer option of a sharp handsaw.
I need to cut down a 5ft timber bed to 3ft 6inch.
I am too stingy to buy one when I know will only use once.
Btw: I am very experienced with power tools.
PM please. I can collect and return. (Live Katong).

Martin, I could help you out but at the moment I'm sitting in Narita waiting for a flight to O'Hara in Chi Town and onwards to BWI (Balto-Washington) and won't be back until the 12th of October.

I have a couple of hardware stores near me, Jalan Jurong Kechil opposite Toh Yi......old style Aladdin's Cave type stuff. Also is a power tools, compressors, safety gear type shop where a lot of the local contractors get their own gear.

If you put "Handyman Centre" into the Search box above you'll find a link showing that they have moved to Lucky Plaza:curiousgeorge wrote:Best place I have found is the Handyman Centre at Shaw Centre. Actually, there are still many old style hardware stores around.
Quite a few in the Jalan Besar area, too.
