You're supposed to cross underground...if you can find the other ends.
So an unpowered human being has to add another 200m at least to their tranverse across an intersection while a powered vehicle goes straight across? I HATE THE LTA. Those kunts are always favouring the car.
Don't say that. They may get an idea of introducing COE/ERP for the pedestrian traffic.

The problem is that some drivers simply are not sufficiently alert whilst driving. I was crossing on a green man in Bugis. The car stopped but the driver was clearly looking down at his phone and had his foot on the gas and started inching over as we walked over the crossing. He didn't even notice until we shouted at him. Not even apologetic. Clearly Candy Crush or playing some shitty casino game on his shitty phone was more important than anything else.

This biker is an idiot. Just like another idiot I saw on Bukit Timah one evening... dark... car turning right into a U-turn... biking fool attempts to also turn right on the right hand side of the car... inside the turn... then wonders why he and his GF are knocked over by a car that sees nothing.

Seriously... this idiot missed so many signs that things we about to go bad for him... natural selection at work.

Ok, but in the footage above the biker firstly violated the alternating vehicles rule for the merging lanes and later like a complete moron continued to squeeze between the car and the curb. You are obliged to check the blind spot only when changing the lanes or driving direction so the driver could just not see the biker approaching and staying in the blind spot (if this was even the case). Unfortunately the footage is without the sound so we don't know whether the biker even bothered to use its horn.

Passing on the left is just stupid on a bike. I occassionally do it in dead still traffic but only to get away from a greater danger.
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!

If you go to Malaysia it's common and drivers expect it, especially on the hard shoulder. I would normally agree with you but I also adapt to local norms, if I think I can do it safely.

I spent an hour or so the other night on the Reckless driver site, looking at the motor cycle accidents. Pretty depressing viewing and it shows the poor driving standards here. But it also shows how bad the local bike riders are, almost all the accidents were avoidable with a little common sense.

It really depends on the situation. I have one few hundred meters road stretch on the way to work were I frequently do it. Two lanes that can easily accommodate 4 cars, no junctions, houses, just nothing, on the left hand side.

Passing on the right is practically the same when it comes to the risk. They don't use indicators, they don't go closer to the center of the road while turning right, they most often don't check the back while overtaking. As with every traffic situation in Singapore you just have to factor in all possible scenarios the drivers may want to do, left, right, doesn't matter.
