The representation isn't clear from your post. If you had said white male black female for eg it would make sense.
What's the point in saying "interracial" couple? Do you want to draw attention to the fact that as a couple you are somewhat different to say intraracial couples?

Everybody is relaxed. You decided to mention it for some reason, didn't you, and people just wonder why.

This seems to suggest you are yourself somehow uneasy with the fact (for example, because you are uncertain how people would react) so you seek a company of similar couples or try to prepare those meeting you to the fact.

As mentioned, in Singapore couples like this are a norm so YOU relax.

I see no fuss about mentioning/not mentioning inter-racial. It is just as norm as some people declaring themselves to be British-born Chinese or American-born Indian in this social segment of forum. I think OP is just being casual about it.

ABCD - American born confused desi ( local) thats the right word.
I dated one years ago, she was really cool except didn't know which side of the fence she stood and I could understand her confusion.

BBC - I've never heard that before except on porn websites....

On certain US forums regarding the mixing of races, east & west, I've often hear Chinese refer to themselves, especially when oversees among other Asian based Chinese refer to themselves as ABCs or BBCs or CBCs. (Australian, American or British or Canadian born Chinese). It's also a good way to let other Chinese people know why you cannot speak Mandarin, Cantonese, etc.

Of course there is the other term that is not quite so nice, "Banana". There used to be several ABCs in MediaCorp. Not sure now as I quit part-timing for them a dozen years ago.

well on the topic of ABCD's this girl I dated was bought up to believe how great a country India is and how wonderful the culture is and they get fascinated listening to all this and when they go to India for a visit they discover how opposite a lot of it is. They find themselves torn and confused and then they try to date the locals ( men and women) and discover how most of the time it doesn't really work.
In my case too it didn't work, but for different reasons ( alcoholism and psychotropic substances - can't deal with people who are into that )

And as recent as a few months ago, when some 'relatives' were in town, and we were out for a drink with some of my friends, the topic of abuse of women came up.

And the immediate reaction from the 'relatives' was - 'statistically, it aint that bad .. '

And a few of my foriegn friends, who were so obsessed with seeing Taj Mahal, quitely told me that they decided to skip India, for now and for future ..
