Hi, everyone.
I would like to ask something. I am a Malaysian. I have started to work in Sg from May 2015 until now. I know there is a tax clearance issue on me because i havent stay at Sg more than 183 days. And the tax amount is 15% flat rate from total salary received. It is quite heavy to me.
So, i plan to find another new job instead just going back to Malaysia. Here come to my question, i quite stress to stay at my current company and i actually got a new offer from other company. So, should l resign first, pass back my wp to my current employer, and let my new employer to apply my next wp and wait the result? OR i should wait my next employer applied my wp and got the IPA letter only tender my resignation letter? I just worry for the first way, my application for the new job might get reject and i need to find another one again as this new job offer is quite good enough for me.
Thank you so much for everyone!

Changing Job - Resign first or not
Re: Changing Job - Resign first or not
What happens if there is any delay between jobs? Can you afford the loss of income? If it was me, I would make sure I had a job in hand before resigning.

Actually when you resign, you still have to pay tax based on that under-183-day you spent on that job. So, no difference. You may as well continue in your current job until you hit above 183 days.

No. Risky. Like what bgd said.

This is better.

I am seriously amused by your logic. Why worry about getting rejected for this new job while waiting for IPA, when you could risk worse things by quitting your first job before getting that IPA for your new job?
Thank you so much for everyone!
