Does anyone on this forum have personal experience of applying while abroad and having REP approved?
Also does going physically to the consulate help? alternatively, does applying while in Singapore help with chances (not employed in Singapore but overseas)

REP Renewal from abroad
Re: RE: REP Renewal from abroad
Being out of the country too long, while not working for a Singapore company and pay not paid in Singapore (and no CPF etc..) will impact renewal, from what I have seen happen to my friends.blessedone wrote:Does anyone on this forum have personal experience of applying while abroad and having REP approved?

Re: REP Renewal from abroad
The answer to your question depends to a great extent on what your current circumstances are.
For example, how long have you been gone? How long were you in Singapore with your PR? Do you have any permanent residence in Singapore? Are you coming back? When? Are you paying Singapore taxes?
If you got PR, then left shortly thereafter and have not been back, if you have no permanent residence in Singapore, if you are working for a foreign company, if you are not paying Singapore taxes, then you don't sound like much of a PR, do you? I'd say no REP for you. Why would you need one? You don't work or live in Singapore.
If you got PR, stayed in Singapore for a while, went to work for a company that posted you overseas but still pay taxes in Singapore, then you probably can apply online and get renewed because you actually look like someone who is a PR.
A local consulate won't make any difference, the real difference is what your actual status is, and from what you have said, it seems that you grabbed Singapore PR, then left for greener pastures. If I were your case officer, I'd check the 'no' box.

Re: REP Renewal from abroad
Ive spent 3/5 years in Singapore and my REP is now up for renewal. Greener pastures as against what? not everyone moves because they want more money though thas the general trend, life comes in the way you know?

Well, greener pasture or not, the point is, ICA has no way of knowing your true intentions.blessedone wrote:Ive spent 3/5 years in Singapore and my REP is now up for renewal. Re: REP Renewal from abroad
Are you planning on coming back? When? You clearly have authority to work in another country for a non Singapore company. Why would you need Singapore PR when you are not working or living here?blessedone wrote:Ive spent 3/5 years in Singapore and my REP is now up for renewal.
