I would recommend Ipoh, only 1 hour direct flight from Singapore and not commercialized. good 70's feel around city and some natural caves to explore. Food is amazing!

Hey, considering, you are looking for nearby vacations, I would like to recommend you Sri Lanka & UAE. You will find good wild life beauty in Sri Lanka. On the other hand, UAE is one of the best tourist place where you can explore desert adventure sports, ferraris, mosques, etc.
If you are ready for long distance travel then Peru is the perfect place for you. But its too far considering you are looking neighbor country.
Singapore - The best and most scenic place I have ever seen.
