My PR Application Pending for so long

Post by Kvish9 » Tue, 04 Aug 2015 12:56 am

Hi

I submitted the PR application for myself & my family on the first week of March of 2014 . After 5 month we
received a letter from iCA which asking us to update the details of our family members (both mine & my spouse's).
When I made my PR application my son was not born yet. He was born in May which is almost 3 months after my PR application. I also updated my new born son's details with my current application and applied for him as well.
We submitted their CV on the next week itself.
When I made my PR application my son was not born yet. He was born in May which is almost 3 months after my PR application. I also updated my new born son's details with my current application and applied for him as well.

Now its almost 17 months after submitting PR application and till date the application status is pending. When I saw that letter
I thought it is a positive sign, but after reading some other discussion forum , i think it is a routine process.
Anyone has similar experience like us ?If yes , how long it took to process the application after updating the requested information ? What was the outcome(accepted/rejected) ?
Thanks

Honestly, they can take as long as they want. If they take unusually long, the theory behind it is that they are waiting for something in your profile to improve (for eg, salary etc etc) before they arrive at their decision. Reasoning behind that is that they don't want to reject you and make you re apply again, which would waste time for both parties, although i can be completely off the mark here so someone correct me if i am wrong.

I am curious though, why didn't you just wait for 3 more months and apply after your son was born?

Probably awaiting vetting agencies to confirm/investigate the details to confirm that the application is truthful? Just my guess. Usually they do that for EP applications.

@Idyllic, Have you had any major changes to your family or job since the first application. Other than an increment that just barely covers the COLA? Male child?, MBA? New job with 50% larger income. A real promotion (not just a title change). If not, save your $60 application fee. :-|

3 months after the application we had a baby boy and also a job change with slightly higher salary and better designation.
