If you are trying to seek a job here, then first see if you company (you didnt say what u did for a living) has offices here.

Or start applying for jobs in Singapore before you leave.

In any case you will only be given a max. of 3 months upon entry. To renew it, you'll have to leave the country (drive up to malaysia or go to bintan) to extend it.

If you have a college degree, it will be much easier for you. You can either try to look for a job in US that has an office in singapore or you can try looking for a job in our local newspaper. I think you'll get a 90 day visa-free travel when you come, bring all your transcripts and CV and look for a job within that period. Once you get a job offer, the company will arrange for you to get a work visa.

Alternatively, you can apply for a PR here. it is much easier for college graduates than anywhere in the world. Not tough at all.

Moving here would mean you have to give up chewing gums cos it is illegal here. Smoking and drinking are very expensive habbits.

Do come and join us in singapore.

Hi Jesse,

Congrats on your new found love :D I'd have to agree that the first thing to do is to find a job followed by an apartment to stay. I'd suggest you start looking for a job asap. If you can't get a transfer from your company, search and post your resume online at www.monster.com.sg or www.jobstreet.com.sg Accommodation-wise, it may be difficult to bunk in with your gal because chances are, she's living with her family (which is the norm btw). And unless u've got a friend to bunki in with, a short term lease is probably your only other option. Having said that, some lessors are reluctant to rent for anything shorter than a year (well, I hope I'm wrong on this), which brings me to my first point of finding a job asap preferably even before you leave US.

Good luck! :)
