Update of sorts: received LTVP eligibility approval. Overall took 14 days. Will still need to apply for and be granted an LTVP after ROM but a step in the right direction.

That is promising, and hopefully the LTVP+ won't be far behind. Unless you are talking about the "+" version as that will allow you to get off the employment pass and the inherent trepidation on renewals. Probably PR wouldn't be too far behind then. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Wait and see is really the right course of action for now. At least to me it says ICA doesn't feel like my marriage is a sham! It's a pity that so many people do such things to game the system and then those of us who actually find a partner we want to spend our lives with get flak/suspicion thrown our way for their actions.

Persistence. It took me almost 11 years and a local wife and a son & daughter before I got my PR over 25 years ago.

Sadly, I think that's what they call collateral baggage that I didn't bargain for. Indian ethics gone horribly wrong. It's supposed to be the eldest son who gets stuck with the parents, not the Son-in-Law!

Thank you topic starter and replyer.

I too got a letter when I was doing my master.

I quited that master program and pursued PhD in the same university. It took me 7 years to finish that. Before finishing, I had to get spass to work for my university for a few months.

When I actually got ep and apply PR accordingly (the letter states I can apply 1 year from my graduation), I got rejected.

Get married to a PR, applied again. Still got rejected. Sigh.

Next time, I'll attach the whole story with my application

I wanted to pursue research-based program.

After my first semester, based on my exam results, my university allowed me to switch program. However, their recommended switching method is to quit masters and enter PhD programme.

Update: rejected! Looks like SMS was right.


Oh well - life goes on
