Looking for EZ Link Card Reader

Post by CAtoSing » Sat, 18 Jul 2015 4:16 pm

Hi

Where can I get this card reader: http://ezlink.com.sg/ez-online

I've looked everywhere, Sim Lim, major/minor stores, online, etc. I even called the manufacturer and they said they haven't imported a batch in a long time and have no plans to do so in the near future.

I'm hoping someone knows of a store or even has a used one to sell.

And yes, I can do to any AXS station to top up and I am aware of the fee. I'm just looking for the convenience.

Thank you!

Doubt this can be found. May be a slim chance from ebay or some other 2nd hand sites. Another option is to use a NFC enabled android phone.
Guess most people are using auto topup these days

Thanks. Will try ebay. NFC Android is ok, but just reads. Doesn't top up.
I'm on auto top up, but use EZ Link for taxis mostly and the auto top up only works on MRT/bus and a very small number of SMRT taxis (although it never worked for me...)

Do you us the mobile just at home, on wifi, to top up? I'm considering getting a cheap used Android phone (I have iPhone) without a service contract and just put it on my home wifi. In other words, doing almost the same as the card reader, but via a mobile instead. Obviously, don't want to do this if phone requires a mobile plan from StarHub, SingTel, etc.

In my case it works good with internet(i.e. wifi+3g/4g). Still suggest to check on the phone before buying. I am using samsung galaxy s5.

Look for a "ACR122 USB Smart Card Reader". They're all over eBay and Alibaba, just without the EZLink branding. Same exact hardware.

Judging by the drivers that come with the Ezlink software, my guess is that a lot of the different models of ACR USB smart card readers will work with this.

Why bother? Its easier just registering a DBS credit card for autotopup. No fees, and you can choose as low as $20 top up increments.

I've never looked back since setting it up, and you also have that last $3that you normally can't spend , suddenly unlocked for use once you make the switch.
