You take him out of Singapore using his Singapore Passport and you enter Vietnam with his VN Passport. You leave VN with his VN Passport and re-enter Singapore with his SG Passport. The fact that there are not any other country stamps in the respective passport is of little concern. If ask, just tell them he has dual citizenship. Most countries say it's citizens must enter that country using that country's passport. Both of my children did that for 21 years each.

Good morning Sundaymorningstaple and bgd,
Thank you very much for your advice.
I would like to double confirm one more thing whether my understanding is correct or not.please help.Tks!
* out of Singapore:
1.At check in airline counter: use Vietnam passport.
2. At Departing immigration: use Singapore passport
3. At Arriving immigration (Vietnam): use Vietnam passport
* Re-enter Singapore
Reverse above 3 steps.

Correct. Otherwise you might be required to show onward/return tickets.
