Running Folk out of Town ....
Re: Running Folk out of Town ....
It's striking how such a non-event morphs into such a big news item. Ah well the subject of the story is this months useful sideshow/distraction/hate-figure I suppose... 'bread & circuses'.

This is the very scary part.....bgd wrote:I see that a minister has commented on the video and suggested that his employer should rethink his employment.
That is why I called the topic "Running Folk out of Town" .... what next?
A guy shouting at somebody else should not be of any interest to a senior Govt Figure....
Clearly the Govt are sweating over the election , they are completely clueless in how to respond to events such as this or the Amos Yee / Roy Ngerg events.
If they have been ignored , as they should have been , folk would have already forgotten about them.
In fact they had a massive over reaction , probably as their advisors are from pre-Internet days , and they have completely lost the plot.

Well, there was a time when the crow culling was top news for a week, and then .. a fellow drowned in the Kallang River and the next two weeks, the news as all about drowning, SCDF, Kallang River ..JR8 wrote:It's striking how such a non-event morphs into such a big news item. And another time, a US Navy fellow drowned in the Boat Quay during High Tide, and the Tides were discussed in details in news

Active aggression. I already have a video from my wife's car dashboard cam where a local guy jumps the traffic queue using the yellow boxes squeezes right in front of my wife's car and when she uses the horn the guy stops blocking the whole traffic leaves his cars and apparently tries to confront her. The whole situation ends with the already famous phrase "go back to your country".Barnsley wrote:This is the very scary part.....bgd wrote:I see that a minister has commented on the video and suggested that his employer should rethink his employment.

It's like Australians, Kiwis, South Africans, and most especially Americans complaining about immigrants.x9200 wrote:Active aggression. Re: Running Folk out of Town ....
This is just some guy shouting at another one ..... The amount of airtime/column inches its got absolutely unbelievable.nakatago wrote: It's like Australians, Kiwis, South Africans, and most especially Americans complaining about immigrants.
We have financial irregularities coming out of the woodwork and piss poo performance by the economy , and what should be issues that concern the man in the street. Instead there is this diversionary crap all over the internet and getting commented on by senior Govt ministers.

And the missus didn't know Singaporeans are, for some amazing reason, allergic to the horn ? I wonder why they have horn in Singapore carsx9200 wrote:.. when she uses the horn the guy stops blocking the whole traffic
There is one video of a guy who got horned, the fellow in front stopped the car in the middle of the expressway to confront the horn user ... why oh why ???

Well, for the natives, this is important news, after all, the govt will take care of the other problems you mentioned .. right ??Barnsley wrote: This is just some guy shouting at another one ..... The amount of airtime/column inches its got absolutely unbelievable.
Re: Running Folk out of Town ....
The other problems are from the Govt , so I would imagine it would be someone unlikely. Conflicts of Interest all over the place ..... How thats a surprise to anyone though, I dont know.ecureilx wrote:

As for this non-story , I cannot believe its important news except for those who are constantly pushing.

I use the horn in my motorbike at least once a day. I was chasing once one moron who tried to push me out of my lane for a few good k.meters all with the horn on. Surely they don't like it as it attracts attention but apparently only brave enough to confront those who they think are physically weaker than them.ecureilx wrote:And the missus didn't know Singaporeans are, for some amazing reason, allergic to the horn ? Re: Running Folk out of Town ....
Yes, but Singaporeans are loosing the advantage of being known as friendly and not aggressive. If this is gone, what would be the differentiating factor keeping foreigners here?nakatago wrote:It's like Australians, Kiwis, South Africans, and most especially Americans complaining about immigrants.x9200 wrote:Active aggression. I have less issues when i have a visible camera on my helmet. Don't want to feature on Stomp.x9200 wrote:I use the horn in my motorbike at least once a day. I check for cameras before taking any "educative" measures. Also, back facing cameras are not that popular.
But what I described happened a few years ago. A significant improvement came after I installed the HID lights. Not sure if, because my visibility went up by one order of magnitude, or they think now I am a sort of a privileged vehicle.

Shall we have a wager on when the next 'FT' gets hauled before the court of public vilification? And what the supposed crime might be?

Re: Running Folk out of Town ....
It's got to escalate for effect. So it can't be some randomer-FT mis-aligning with a barman or taxi-driver, that get's tired. It's got to crank up through the ranks.
-So next time.... [just musing]... 1st world embassy diplomat impugns innocent SE Asian that he met at Orchard Towers asking for $500 and with his genitals out, that he ''''''''foolishly'''''' mistook for a gay hostess. The fact 'she' paid $80k for the op that doesn't convince burns hard.
-FT objects to fake Aussie Emmental at Raffles $188 'all you can eat buffet': Offends everyone, and our nations heritage. How dare you insult Raffles, out true Chinese origin.
-why are these damn awful foreigners here anyway?
