Thank you CuriousGeorge for the rather tasty information. Lifestyle? beyond the average Joe, I guess. Fancy life, I guess, toffs. I used to rent a penthouse at Sentosa Cove. Wanted to put down "roots" so to speak but gotten rejected from obtaining their PR twice. Bought the boat for a couple of sheds under $1m. Kept telling us that it was well worth it as its so much cheaper and they are saving money compared to their rental at the Cove. Boat is 1980s, but beautifully re-fitted. Has a beautiful apartment type kitchen, nice size living space with a "dining area, 4 bedrooms, master bedroom with tons of clever built in storage and ensuite and there's 2/3 more bathrooms. There's also a "play area" where all the gadgets are hooked up to.
The only disadvantage that they talk about is end of the year when it rains a lot, the long walk to their cars/ to the buggie

I figured in the region of $1m if its the boat I am thinking of ;) It was on the market for quite a while in fact. Not many people with the dosh for that kind of thing.
I suppose if they were paying $20k a month for a penthouse in Sentosa then they will be "saving" after owning the houseboat for 4yrs+. Obviously longer if their rent was less.

I bet they don't talk about the Kay Poh nosy parkers overlooking them from the wharf, or the noise from the nightlife either. Or the inconvenience during the boat show. Or the salt air that makes everything crusty and sticky. Or other boating knobheads :D

Boat is beautiful though inside wise. Yeah, I did bring up the noise factor as but they said that it didn't bother them. The boat show when they have to hire someone to move the boat, nay they took it on the chin.
Sentosa Cove rental have been falling for a few years now. Interesting, though to hear from both perspectives- especially yours.
