In general it is used to mean "person". But if I remember correctly, it originated from UK transport industry to mean "Passenger Allowed in Expenses" or something like "Per Annum Exclusive" for housing.rajagainstthemachine wrote:yes and max 3 PAX etc etc what on earth does that mean? people approximately?the lynx wrote:You mean "$20 per pax"?
Need to ask folks like JR8 etc.

Re: Make Acronyms, Abbreviations and other funny paraphernalia
PAX is a curiously local thing, in Latin it means 'peace', so that's no help. No one back home would get what it meant if you used it in a property ad.
My wife and I have a custom acronym 'CB'*, that only we will understand if spoken amongst others, it derives directly from the two Hokkien Chinese words that make up the 4-letter vulgarity for a women's genitalia.
Since I've had it aimed at me [albeit to my back] in full, I don't feel unjustified using a coded/sanitised version between me and my wife when the very occasional situation merits it.
* This has risen to an even more encrypted form. CB is the post-code handle for Cambridge city in England. Hence you get 'Jeez, this bloke's a right Cambridge eh?'
