Can still drink in clubs/restaurants with applicable licenses as per normal, but you won't be able to drink outside in public and coffeeshops or buy liquor from shops/grocery stores between the hours of 10pm and 7 am. You would have to understand what the quays are to fully understand the impact. Also google Little India Race Riot Singapore for more in depth on why it came about.

I haven't been down to CQ since the news laws came in. Is there much of a change?

Somebody said CQ closing hours are reduced vs rest of the places.

Clarke Quay has reminded me of a dying UK seaside town the last couple of times I have been there.

A good number of the bars are closed and boarded up, looks rather sad.

Hardly anyone there , though not surprising at the prices charged for the drinks.

No more bridge-drinking after 10.30pm.

There really is (IME) no *quality* food down there, so for us it was a destination for occasional drinking and partying.
And if you can't do that without being nannied, then it would seem it's purpose is redundant.

Shame, it had a couple of venues where you could see bands and comedy [Kumar etc] etc, that were on the smaller scale of things, which is unusual here, and enjoyable. They were the only reasons we used to go there, and I know the latter has closed some time ago.

Singapore's Blackpool Pier? Pity the tourists who follow their guide-books and turn up there expecting a buzzing place -> :???:

Speaking to a local bar owner recently, there is the suggestion bars with outside drinking areas will have to move their patrons inside after 10:30pm. I know of one food court that already enforces that and have heard of one bar which was raided and patrons told to move inside.

If this is actually the case it will really help the dwindling tourist trade and probably put a number of bars out of business at the same time. :?

Hi Internven!
This is a long shot but I am currently facing the same problem and I have been waiting for my application status for 20 days now. I am also studying in the US now but I studied in Singapore before. Do you think I should email them about my application? and when did you get a reply from them? thank you so much!
