Inspirations For Today
Some inspirational stuff I came across this morning.
Poem by Pablo Neruda:
http://www.brainpickings.org/2015/05/28 ... lo-neruda/
Stories of several young Singaporeans who took up (Buddhist) monastic life. A bit of a long read and following quotes caught my attention.

" She says: "My mother cried and asked if she had done anything wrong. I told her, it's because she has raised me well that I wanted to live a virtuous life." "
" He says: "My teacher wanted me to realise that inner peace comes from within and is not dependent on external factors." "

From HONEY, oh I mean HONY.

"But when those stories are all that we hear, it’s so easy to imagine a world that’s far scarier than it really is. You lose sight of the 99.99% of the world that’s not scary at all. And living in fear can be a dangerous thing. Because if we’re afraid of each other, we’ll never be able to work together to solve our common problems."

Listening skill................. a rarity. But fret not, practise makes perfect. Says EF
.
"A research study in the US revealed that on average, physicians interrupt 69% of patient interviews within 18 seconds of the patient beginning to speak. As a result, in 77% of the interviews, the patient’s true reason for visiting is never even elicited. Because of the way the doctor is choosing to listen (or not listen in this case) the patients are literally not able/empowered to speak their full truth of what is going on for them."

More on the art of "Listening". From the man himself ~ "We say things that devalue our worth."
. So much beauty squeeze into that tiny (ok, ok, not that tiny) body. Life is so unfair.

And a photo of the man himself. Makes me tear up so much, four tissues in totalTake the time to listen to what you say. So many of us say things and don't really hear our words. We say things that hurt others without even realizing it. We say things that devalue our worth.
I've always been really good at reading people, and I think it's because I listen on a higher level.
Love you all,

From my Rumi. This one also makes me tear up. Trying to stay earthfriendly here. This time only needs two tissues.

4 tissues
. Because of how easily we can become desensitized and indifferent to this thing called humanity. How easily we can write off another "person" or "life" based on an "opinion" we have about them.
"They've taught me that sometimes life is as much about what you unlearn as it is about what you learn. "

http://www.filmsforaction.org/articles/ ... d-by-hate/Today is 9/11. If you asked me what my intention is for today it would be this: "to see the world with eyes unclouded by hate."
This has been my goal for several years and when I observed what was in my heart recently I could feel the change. I do not feel any hate in my heart. I don't hate ISIS or the US military. I don't hate Hamas or Israel. I don't hate the CEOs and profiteers of war. I want all of them to stop what they are doing. But I don't hate them.

Re: Inspirations For Today
I love America for producing individual like this one who can "think" for themselves. From the comment section.
http://gizmodo.com/charges-dropped-agai ... 1730326640A lot of us find patriotism to be the last refuge of the scoundrel...not suitable for conversations between mature adults.
Instead we’re focused on humans. The idea that we should be forbidden from collaborating with peers because some childish politicians are squabbling isn’t worthy of respect.
We’re not the problem. They are.

This is applicable to 96.97% of Indians who refuse to listen and that includes my mother.earthfriendly wrote:Listening skill................. a rarity. But fret not, practise makes perfect. Says EF.
