We went to Smiths@Balmoral over the weekend - yup it is authentic. Vinegar with chips. Chips limp and soggy. Served on paper. But yes, cod is expensive.

JR8, Seashells@Regents Park, more like Lisson Grove aka Marylebone/St John's Wood gotten burn down and now its has once again risen. I like their fish & chips. Oliver's in Belsize Park is pretty good too and another one is in Borough Market.

There used to be a very good one on Hogarth Road in Earl's Court. Called Hi-Tide IIRC. Next door was a VNmese grocer, then probably one of the very few in London.
