Please Explain this Thai word

Post by Thaiwordmeaning » Wed, 19 Jan 2005 4:52 pm

I went to Bangkok on a visit. At airport, I saw one girl carrying a poster written 'Arino Matkati' ( English script).

I asked my tour guide, but he could not explain it. His english knowledge was limited to few fixed words only.

Can anybody explain, what does this mean.

Thank You

Judging from the pronounciation of the words, it does not sounds like a Thai but name of a person maybe from Philipines or Indonesia. Maybe she is waiting for someone arriving.

Not exactly. There were few such girls. some 3 or 4. Standing in different places in the arrival area.

However, if you know thai and this does not sound like thai language, then may be u r correct.

Thanks

It doesn't sound like any Thai word I know.

Google is your friend....a search for 'matkati' turns up many results from Estonia, and a search for 'arino' turns up results from all over, including Japan and Estonia.

I figure it was an airport meet-and-greet service for someone named Arino Matkati who's either Estonian or a Japanese married to an Estonian

Maybe Arino Matkati was such an important person that they had 3 or 4 nubile beauties waiting at different locations? Must be nice to be rich or important.

I'd wager a guess that it's a creative misspelling of major Scandinavian package tour operator Aurinkomatkat.
