Foreign Bankruptcy and relocation

Post by Humble Pie » Tue, 28 Apr 2015 12:47 am

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has knowledge on issues for a foreign bankrupt (now discharged and rebuilding credit rating in America) moving to Singapore?
I understand an employer sponsored Employment pass should not consider credit, and also that banks will work from salary in Singapore. Also that apartment rental doesn't consider offshore credit rating.
The above being considered, are there any areas I haven't considered which may be an obstacle to my relocation?
Thanks very much,
HP

You may have a problem if you are going to be a director or secretary of the company. Check the ACRA webpage for details.

I've never tried to be a director or secretary of a Pte Ltd company here, but if it's any help (granted this was a heck of a long time ago), I was a discharged bankrupt (bankrupted in 1973) finally re-established reasonabl credit in the US back in '78~79 and came to Singapore in '82 and have been here ever since. I've never had a problem nor hidden the facts. YMMV today.
