Never use it as we have to check all posts, as mods, so it's either opening up "Posts" or "Unread Posts"

My tab is set as "New Posts" and I just refresh it periodically, but if I have to shut down the browser for some reason without checking all the new posts, then the next time I open up the browser I change to "Unread Posts" as "New Posts" will not show the ones that were up previously when the browser was last loaded.

I'm not about to use email notifications as if I were as active as JR8 is I'd go crazy with the emails. That's one thing I DON'T need. ;-)

It's no big deal really. I'm home and PC based anyway, so it's usually a useful distraction :) It's rare to wake up to more than 3-5 notifications, and they're all discussions I've chosen to follow. Of course encountering multiple deleted spam is less of a joy. But since the notification gives the posters name, once you see that 'A-hole1' is a deleted spammer, then declining to follow the further e-mailed links from the same poster is simple enough.

What I saw (again) yesterday was multiple notifications for unread messages on a topic I was 'following' despite not visiting the forum at all. But the tides of 20-30+ unread notifications per morning seems to have stopped.

I remain rather disappointed at the ability of spammers to post rubbish on the board (especially when I accidentally waste my time clicking on them). As previous, I understand it's balancing accessibility vs control... and hence by no means a simple issue.

p.s. @SMS thanks heavens you're not self-employed and working from home. Just imagine, what would you be like!? :o :lol: :cool: hahahaha.....

Couldn't be any worse than I am at work. In fact, more distractions at home than at the office. ;-)

Am I the only one who has seen tapatalk become excruciatingly slow since two weeks or so ago ?

I use tapatalk to access only this forum, and the information for the Forum loads extremely slow of late

On that note,

* Tapatalk auto-subscribes me to anything I posted in. I don't want this.
* Tapatalk is slow
* Moderation in Tapatalk is ridiculously broken
* Tapatalk is slow

Since the site is now mobile friendly, you can still surf the forum with mobile easily without Tapatalk.

Pal, what is the best mobile browser to view the mobile friendly site with?
Chrome for Android or some other? I've just tried it with Chrome and it seems to be much better to nagivate than Tapatalk which I refuse to use as I cannot moderate with any sense of speed at all. Will have to try mod with chrome mobile to see.

I'm using the Samsung browser on my Note 5 and it works just fine.

But then again new broom tends to sweep well 8-)

A couple of things, that seem to have started just recently (past few days).

-- It's e-mailing for every new post that is added to a topic I have previously written in. I.e. I don't visit the forum for a day, but get say 3 notifications re: new posts in a single topic.

-- The link in the e-mail advice takes me to the top of the page in which the latest post has been made, but not to the latest post itself.
Example:
----
'Hello JR8,
You are receiving this notification because you are watching the topic
"Probation definition" at "Singapore Expats". This topic has received a
reply by Wd40 since your last visit. No more notifications will be sent
until you visit the topic.
If you want to view the newest post made since your last visit, click the
following link:

http://forum.singaporeexpats.com/viewto ... ead#unread
[rest of e-mail not copied here...]
-----

a) 'No more notifications will be sent' - but they are.
b) Clicking that above link takes me to the top of page 2, whereas the relevant post from WD40 is 11 posts down the page.

Just FYI :)

There seems to be a new stack of tabs/links that's floats to the left. A problem with the position is it obscures text. I can't see the first 4-5 letters of each line in this post whilst typing. Same whilst reading like... ->

Could it be placed over on the right, or somewhere a bit less obtrusive?
