Short term visit pass to apply for visa?

Post by Jimmyy » Wed, 08 Apr 2015 10:19 pm

Hi I'm a burmese currently living in singapore with a short term visit pass. I just applied for a long term visit pass and waiting for the confirmation. Just wondering if I can apply visa to visit Hong Kong with the short term visit pass?

How can you be "living in Singapore" on short term visit pass? You're technically not a resident.

Your visa to Hong Kong is based on your country of citizenship, i.e your Myanmar passport. Whether Hong Kong accepts visa application made outside of country of citizenship/residence i.e Singapore, you have to check with the embassy.

Previously mine is a student pass but it expired after I've completed my course of study. So I'm applied for a short term pass while waiting for the long term pass to be confirmed. So do I go to the Hong Kong embassy and apply there?

Do I have to Google it for you?

Use keywords "Myanmar passport Hong Kong visa Singapore".

Yes you need visa.

4. Original and copy of the residence permit (e.g. PR and RE-ENTRY PERMIT, EP) that will be valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of application.
No you cannot apply via Singapore, according to this website. I think you have to apply from Myanmar.

If you are still unsure, give the embassy in Singapore a call first.

and .. it's not in black and white, but a lot of folks who applied Long Term pass, and went out of the country saw their LTVP rejected (that's from folks I know .. )

While it doesn't say you can't travel out while LTVP is being reviewed, it's good to stay and settle it .. after all, it doesn't take months for LTVP to get approved or rejected ..

Only in one case ICA asked if the applicant really needed a Long term pass as he was spending more time out of Singapore ..

The question is hard for me to understand, as it's not clear what the 'Short term pass' referred to is. Is that it's formal name? What is it's duration, and is it marked as multiple-entry? Perhaps you can provide a link to the specific pass on the ICA website so it's clearer what you're referring to?

Burmese are not entitled to a Social Visit Pass, i.e. the one issued on entry, and have to apply for a visa beforehand (ref: http://www.ica.gov.sg). So again, the starting point is being precise about the visa/pass/status that you're currently on.
