If you don't like the advice you're receiving, and if you were already planning to ignore such advice, why did you ask for it?

I will quote our esteemed moderator SMS.

"If you don't try you are guaranteed not to get PR"

However it probably unlikely all the same , but you never know , with a fair wind at your back.

Just wondering, statistically speaking .. from all applicants who came here and ask ..
how many of those who wait more than 1 year plus and get their PR approved, or everything is just random chance?

Pls don't shoot my stupid question =<

It's not a stupid question, but it is one where the answer is "how long is a piece of string?" Because of the ebb & flow of economics, the small size of Singapore allows the government here to 'turn on a dime' depending on which way the wind is blowing. I remember 20 years ago the Phama Industries were going to be the next big "Hub", Then the Airtropolis, and the IT hub, and this hub and that hub. Goes like gangbusters for a year or two and then something new arrives on the horizon and off they go again on another tangent. Often leaving all kinds is detrius along the way (spent bodies who thought they were the doGs gift to the world and andwent and sold everything except their mother to get over here. Sadly, this is but another example of that and it's also why it's impossible to give you any sort of accurate percentages over a spread of a year, let alone a 10 years timeline.

All we do is listen to the stories, store them in our mental vaults and apply who we know, what we know and what we do and the various industries we are familiar with (various if you haven't noticed). and then give you our gut feel. Me? I'm pretty famous in my own little circle for bucking the trends even during interviews, I don't bother too much with the "rulebook" and depend a lot on intuition and gut feel. When I was a headhunter I rarely gave a client more then two CVs and normally only one. My closing rate was one of the best in the business but to be honest I stayed in my own industry expertice rather than trying to get into everything. I was a specialist in hard engineering sciences (particularly in the O&G, Heavy Construction/Civils/Marine environments). I still operate, as an HR Manager for the past 11 years, in much the same vein. My staying rate of those I hire is better than my bosses.

So, what I tell you guys here is made of a lot of data coupled with my gut feel. Not very professional, I grant you, but anybody who's done the research on this forum will note that my percentages more or less work here as well. How do I do it? I cannot begin to tell you as I don't really know either, other than the fact that it works and is pretty accurate in cutting through the BS.

You can ask WD-40 or Singaporeflyer, both have been here a long time and I think both will vouch for my uncanny accuracy.

hi all,
seeking your advice regarding PR chances.
==================
In Singapore since 2009.
Indian, working in as Chemical Engineer in mulitnational company for 7 years(EP).
Annual income around 120K. Wife working as well. Have a kid.
PR rejected 3 times. Would be applying again in September this year.
Unable to figure out the reason for rejections.
==================
Any insight would be helpful.
Thanks :)

Rumour says, if you change your race to something else, you may succeed ;)

Btw. Where have you been hiding?

You didn't know that the last 7 years or so, PR for Indians has been reduced ?

You still have the 5.039% chance, if you apply again.

Actually, since you are a chemical engineer, you have better chances inspite of race, compared to the IT/Banking crowd.

+1. But since he has already had 3 rejections, it will be better for him to reapply after he has some visible changes in his application - like career growth, Salary, etc

Will submit around early August, so will only have 2 months of payslip to submit. Understand that it is advisable to wait for 6 months before applying but since the application process is taking so long, so I'm thinking maybe I should just apply first anyways, what do you think my chances are? Thanks!
Hi, just to update and provide future applicants some references.

Started working since June 2016, submitted my application mid December 2016, and got it approved around early August 2017. Cheers.
