Need Housing Suggestions

Post by KimchiKid » Fri, 03 Apr 2015 6:41 pm

Hi,

I will be relocating to Singapore in May for at least a 2 year contract. I don't know anything about the housing options in Singapore and have heard there are some real estate agents that try to rip off expats by pricing super high so i'm hoping you good people can help.

I like high rise apartments/penthouses that have a minimalistic modern interior. I am single, no kids, so a 2 bdrm would be fine for me. I would prefer to have as much open floor space as possible. So a 2 bedroom with more space versus a 3 bedroom that feels more cramped is better for me. My office is off of Scotts RD so something nearby would be good but not necessary. I am looking for a place that has a good gym inside the building. I am also looking for furnished/semi-furnished apartments. Being close to a grocery store would be awesome as i like to cook however i do know some grocery stores do deliver...

Budget: $5,000 - $8,000 SGD

Thanks!

There's a good template for these types of questions available here, in case there's something you forgot to mention: http://forum.singaporeexpats.com/viewtopic.php?t=101985" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Scotts Road is itself about a 15 minute walk end to end, so you may want to be a bit more specific if you're interested in places within walking distance.

$5000-$8000 will give you a lot of options, although finding large 2 bedrooms is not *that* common. condos within walking distance of Scotts Road with 1100+ sqft 2 bedrooms include Richmond Park, Cairnhill Plaza, Trilight, Hellos Residences and Cuscaden Residences. Cairnhill and Cuscaden have the largest 2 bedroom apartments of the lot, but Helios and Trilight are the most modern (< 5 years old) and probably the best chance of the type of interior you're after or a good gym. All have grocery stores within 10 minutes but you're also right about online delivery being a viable option these days.
