Post by techiw » Fri, 27 Feb 2015 6:16 pm

I have been in my apartment for 6 months now and there is a water leak in the aster bedroom, the landlord has tried to rectify but to no avail. He has given me a slight discount on the rent but the issue is its not fixed. I don't know where i stand legally with this can anyone help.

And you are wondering whether this is ok to brake the lease so you could leave by April?

if you're staying in a HDB, do consider getting in touch with the town council to get your plumbing checked. it could be leaking due to wear and tear. please use a good water heater like ariston as well. there have been cases in the past where your storage heater doesn't meet safety standards and the pipes burst, flooding your toilet. have someone check the wall and plaster, it could be leaking due to water seeping through the wall and plaster. don't come home to 'ponding'!

Get a Chartered Building Surveyor to survey. Tell Landlord he pays the fee.

@Techiw, what kind of leak is it? From plumbing in your bathroom, or coming in from the property above? No useful advice can be given without that most basic detail.

p.s. Good spot X9.
