My father got his PR through investment in 1977 or 1978. I was a teenager then and got my PR through him. I've been living/working in U.S. for over 25 years. I was able to renew my re-entry permit, just had to come back to Singapore and renew it. Last year I tried renewing it online and did not receive any reply. So I went to Singapore and tried to renew it. Renewal was rejected since I've been away or not working in Singapore for more than 3 years. I tried to appeal but no luck. It expired in January. Does that mean that I lost my PR? I worked in Singapore for a few years from 86 to 89. What can I do with my CPF?
Thanks

Re-entry permit expired
Re: Re-entry permit expired
Yes, you have lost your PR are you are no longer residing in Singapore. You can withdraw your CPF - I think you need a letter from the ICA people saying you no longer have PR and you can go down there (to a CPF branch) and file a form to have it sent to you.teal854t wrote:My father got his PR through investment in 1977 or 1978. Awhile back the Singapore government was ok about people renewing PR's endlessly without living in Singapore on a regular basis, but those days are gone now unfortunately.

^^This.
It will be wire transferred to the bank of your choosing within 10 business days anywhere in the world. That also included any/all interest it has accrued during that time.
But one thing to remember. Should you ever decide to return to Singapore and want to re-apply for PR, you will have to replace ALL the CPF & Interest that was withdrawn AND any interest that would have accured during the period since you withdrew the funds to the time of regaining approval for PR again. Might be tough to chew.

One thing to remember is that ignoring FOREX risks CPF is secure, strong interest bearing deposit. If OP has the wherewithal I'd recommend leaving it in until OP is 55 (min sum age) or 62 (Singapore retirement age) or even longer.sundaymorningstaple wrote:^^This.

Barings bank was considered 'secure', bullet-proof even, for the 233 years before one junior employee (Nick Leeson) felled it.PNGMK wrote:One thing to remember is that ignoring FOREX risks CPF is secure...
CPF is held by the SG-GIC. This might prove of interest...

I'll leave it at that.
