Applying for Singapore Citizenship

Post by blessedami » Fri, 13 Feb 2015 10:53 pm

Hi there,
Have been a lurker here for quite a long time and this forum has come in handy for many answers and even a quick laugh.
Have been in Sg since 1996 and an SPR since 1997; hubby came a year earlier in 1995.
Have two kids- a son doing his A Levels in perhaps the best Secondary school here and a daughter in Primary School. Husband is currently securely employed in an MNC, while I have for the most part satisfied myself with tutoring and voluntary work. Having lived here for nearly 20 years, we are currently mulling over the thought of applying for citizenship. Son has no second thoughts about doing NS and in no hurry to leave either the country where he grew up or his childhood pals.
We are from the Indian subcontinent. Stable financial situation. Under the winds of change sweeping across Singapore now, how successful do you people think our application might be ?
TIA and have a great weekend !!

Whats up with "Indian subcontinent?" pakistani / bangladeshi, why not specify ?

based on country of origin / race , not so high.

My only question is why have you waited so long? Maybe the horse has already bolted.
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!

That was a slip of the fingertip, so to speak; what I meant to type was "We are from India". And why have we waited for so long ? Perhaps because all of our family is back in India but with the recent introduction of the OCI card by the government of India, travelling and staying in India has become hassle free. And maybe the horse has already bolted- acutely aware of that !
