@Barnsley - I'll repeat what I wrote for your benefit: the key issue is not about party-pooping, but rather the inequity of privileges between an indigenous community and an expatriate one.
Lets air-condition the entire island please

Is being able to peacefully celebrate your own culture a privilege?

I think the upset is with the perceived double-standards between Thaipusam and St Pat's.
The privileges I mentioned refer to the closure of roads and permission for al-fresco drinking for SPD, which were far more muted in the case of Thaipusam. So it is understandable that people question such a disparity and I hardly think that they were targeting the Irish community.
Lets air-condition the entire island please
