Re: Car Driver
$1600~2500/mo plus meals and uniform allowance if you want them to wear slacks & a white/business shirt.

Also additional for out of hours work I think. I had a boss who had one about 10 years ago - if you can afford one it's a damn good idea - no more tickets or hassle.

Re: Car Driver
Singapore must be one of the few places in the world where it would work out cheaper having a driver than buying a second car.
Re: Car Driver
Yeah very good point. Add in parking costs as well...QRM wrote:Singapore must be one of the few places in the world where it would work out cheaper having a driver than buying a second car.

Re: Car Driver
Insurance? Would premiums go up with an employed driver?
Re: Car Driver
Insurance is the same so long as the driver is over 21 and under 65, just list him as a named driver.
Re: Car Driver
a driver isn't really a glorified taxi driver, more like a trusted and reliable PA...
a good one will need more than a monthly salary... (ones that come quickly when called and perform as instructed, etc)
on top of food and clothing... basic insurance, medical+dental, decent bouns and good overtime pay are some of the standard perks a good driver will get.
my dad provides a motorcycle to his driver too... and provides a subsidized travel allowance which covers islandwide parking ($1/day) and gas.
i've heard of some long time drivers who get way more in benefits!!!

I know a indonesian tai-tai, who''s driver also does non-driving chores .. like banking work, buying stuff for her family, tour guide when relatives are in town etc. etc. and he does get paid more than the basic I believe
ah, boss also drives sometimes and they do have more than 2 cars at home.
