When I worked in Moscow you could hail any car as you would a taxi, negotiate a fare and off you went. The locals used it as a way to make extra cash. Don't really see that catching on in Sg.

I believe there was something like that here in SG a very long time ago.
This have been cleaned up since then.

By the way, when I was in Moscow I was warned by Russians not to take those unofficial rides.
They also said to be wary of even the official looking taxis.

Ended up booking the airport taxi to the hotel and going back to the airport using the hotel taxi.
