1. Can you legally take on board & drink on board own alcohol that was was bought in duty free ?
2. If drink only some of the alcohol in the bottle then what implication when going thro customs at the other end ?

Not sure about the legal implications but the low cost carriers don't like it. I suspect because they want to sell you their overpriced stuff. Their plane, their rules.
Would customs be bothered? After all you are still bringing in the alcohol, just not all in the bottle.

I asked this question once at changi airport duty free in the departure area whether I can consume in the airport, she said no and pointed to me the reciept/sealed polythene cover that read you cannot open it until you reach your destination.

I think you would need to test it if you are brave enough!
Grey areas.
The difference between techinically illegal and technically legal but the air hostess reports you to the flight deck as a disruptive passenger and the Police are waiting for you on arrival probably makes it not worthwhile.

I usually carry a SIG flask or two on flights, at least one to ensure I always have water on demand.
In my younger days: The second, oh, well, that might get filled with a decent red that I'd decanted in the Gate/wait-area.
p.s. I have been bollocked for having open a sealed bag of duty free alcohol, identified at the final X-ray before the Gate waiting area. Hence the latter suggestion.

I was just in Changi airport yesterday and I saw one tourist being escorted by the DFS staff to the gate because he opened his bottle after purchase before his flight and he needed the DFS staff to verify his purchase.
I could hear the DFS staff berating him about not opening the sealed bag and consuming the alcohol before arriving at destination.

I’ve seen plenty of vids in the news that are supposedly recent, can tell by cam quality too that they are not old incidents.
