PR vs Long term visit pass

Post by nanana » Fri, 26 Dec 2014 9:46 pm

I am Singapore PR. I am currently bonded to work for this company for 2 years. My daughter is 2 yo. She holds foreign passport and currently is able to stay in Singapore for 90 days each time she enters the country. I have been extending her stay every 90 days by crossing the border and coming back again. I also have a son who is Singaporean.

I am thinking to apply either Singapore PR or the long term visit pass for my daughter. BUt I can't decide. We may not stay in this country after my contract is up. So, I'm not sure if applying PR for my girl right now will put her in difficult position if next time she decided to come back to work in Singapore? and I'm not sure if this will have any implication on my son in the future if he decided to renounce his citizenship?

Any advice? Thanks.

where are you from? what passport(s) do your children hold? how long of the 2 year bond do you have left? how old is your son?

why not an LTVP for your daughter? i assume it's a much quicker and relatively painless process.

if your son gives up SPR/SC just to avoid NS, it is likely he won't be able to get it again...

is your spouse a singaporean?

we were told that son will need to renounce one of the citizenships by age 21. i wish to ask if he renounce his SG citizenship, will he still be able to keep his bank account in SG? can a foreigner open a bank account in SG?

is it better to renounce SG citizenship after completing NS?

we actually dont mind son to do NS. is that mean we dont have to do anything and can just apply for renounciation after completing NS?

just wondering how much do we have to pay as bond if son is going overseas for more than 2 yrs between age 13-18? is it depending on case-case basis?

thanking all in advance for your advice.

*yup; it's from 2008.

If you salary is less than 4K/mo it will be almost impossible to get an LTVP for your spouse.

Oh, and you are not your sister. In fact, that could be one of the reasons why you cannot get an LTVP for him.

@nakatago: what a good dig!

unfortunately,in the span of 7 years since i last posted that message, i'm now a single parent. so, not sure how is that going to affect my child's application.

decided to go for LTVP as what Taxico suggested cos i was told the earliest appointment for PR application is July! :shock:
