I was about 45 and generally very active and in good health and was hit by a medical issue out of the blue. It took about 6-8 months from Day1 and the initial ambulance to IC, warding with seemingly every test and treatment known to man, inpatient then later outpatient rehab.

All in the bill was about euro200k (S$320k). Luckily I was covered under my wife's insurance during that posting abroad. I still had to fund it all upfront, to later get about 75% rebated: But if that had have happened here in SG I'd have been without any coverage at all. A sobering thought.

Hello all,
I have been a lurker here for a while. But I was surprised that no one has brought this to the notice of the general audience.

Starting Feb 1 2015, LTVP holders (yes not LTVP+) will be issued LOC and not WPs as part of a stream lining process.

I hope this is useful information for everyone.

Outlined here...

It seems two pronged.
- Easier for foreign spouse to work
- Both parties receive 'full disclosure' of the other parties background before the marriage takes place.

Starting Feb 1st, LTVP & LTVP+ will be availabe for LoCs for both Citizens & PRs. As the OP is an EP holder, the dependent can only qualify in their own rights (EP/SP) or via LoC on a Dependent's Pass, assuming the Government gives them a DP considering their marital status.

Hi all,

I just wanted to bring this to the notice of the forum because this is a new change in policy to spouses of not just citiziens but PRs. Previously spouses of PRs were also supposed to apply for work permit and not LOCs.

It was not directly meant for your particular situation, sorry.

I've already brought this up at least twice on the board. Try some research, while you are testing. ;-)
