I've been using Kiehl's Acne blemish control daily skin clearing treatment. A tube of 30 ml cost S$52. It works pretty well for me. You don't have to use much at a time so it lasts pretty long. (for me at least)

Kiehl's gives out samples so maybe you can try it out.

If it is a large area of acne, you can try the oxygen deep cleansing treatment. I used to have big acnes and after a few treatments. It improved a lot. Now, I only have some small acnes ocassionally. I went to one home base beauty salon in the west.

I suffer from cystic acne on my chin area. The kind that is swollen, deeply embedded and painful to the touch (or even without touch). It has a genetic component to it. Hormones, oily skin (which can be a sign of too much male hormone e.g. testerone) and diet. Dairy and sugar are know to be common triggers.

Since it is partly due to genetics, I can't completely eliminate it but learn to dampen the effects. Here are some things you can try. All based on your personal lifestyle, budget and time. And results vary between individuals.

- frequent steaming (Watson's has inexpensive facial steamer)
- clay mask ( I like Aztec Indian Clay Bentonite in powder form)
- keep your skin hydrated (light weight non-fragrance serum, nothing heavy or creamy)
- exfoliatant suitable for your skin type
- facial shaving (rid the dead skin cells)
- retinol and bha (I like the non fragranced product from Paula's Choice)
- getting enough sleep
- drink plenty of water
- maintain low stress level
- exercise

Found this to be a pretty good list, even though the title is geared towards cystic acne.

I would suggest you better consult a dermatologist , he will suggest the best suitable medicine to your skin.

I've been to National Skin Centre once for acne scars. The dermatologist didn't seem interested in answering my questions. Wasted 100+ for consultation fees.

Anyway, I've been using Tretinoin cream, and it helps to clear clogged pores. It will get worse before getting better because it is the purging stage.

Has anyone tried Dr’s Secret?
No. Is it any good?

I have tried Dr Pepper ... that's really good! It's so misunderstood!

Rather than trying to remedy the acne yourself, maybe consider seeing a dermatologist. The National Skin Centre has heavily subsidized consultations and treatments for Singaporeans and PRs. The doctors are well qualified and patient, making for a fuss-free and effective way to ensure that the skin can be cleared for good.
