#1 quite a few temples in singapore offer free vegetarian food (chinese sort). if you've got some money, you're welcomed to make a contribution into the donation box. no amount too big or too small.jishnudg wrote:Hi!
Just registered on this forum, and its amazing how much information there is in this forum. So a short introduction...I'm a 24 year old architect/BIM coordinator based in New Delhi, India, and am currently applying to Singapore based companies. I'm hopeful that I'll be able to relocate by early next year, but have a few questions that I'd love some advice on.
1. I'm going on a shoestring budget, have no way to get a loan immediately, and will have to survive on bare essentials for a while. How can I optimize on day to day living expenses?
2. (1) wouldn't be a huge problem, but for the fact that I have a significant amount of time investment in an after hours web based startup that I've been working on getting off the ground, in BIM consultancy. For this, I'd definitely prefer single accommodation, that isn't too far from the city center - - which, common sense tells me, would not come cheap. Any innovative solutions to this? I don't even mind staying in a tiny setup, could even be a 10ft x 10ft room with attached bath and no utilities whatsoever - -floor's the limit.
Looking forward to inputs on this! Thanks, all!
J.
Yes they still do that. The ride-early,ride-free offer is extended till June 2015 and I foresee this to become permanent due to popularity and de-congesting effect it has.bgd wrote:To reduce travel costs target the MRT lines that have free travel early in the morning (if they still do that?). Or use the humble bicycle like many of the locals.
That's all well and good as long as you have the proper residency visa. If you arrive here on an SVP you cannot until such time as your SVP has been converted to a residency visa.jishnudg wrote:Taxico..Well I'll be there for a year and a half, actually..

your earlier messages didn't make it sound like you had a pass to reside for a year and half.jishnudg wrote:Well I'll be there for a year and a half, actually..
Define good balance. You mentioned shoe string but you're not clear where you would draw the line for compromise.jishnudg wrote:As in places where I can strike a good balance between distance from work and rent amount.
