Christening in Singapore

Post by Steve1960 » Thu, 20 Nov 2014 12:19 pm

This post was prompted by seeing Barnsley's post on marriage.

Anyone know the process for having your child christened here in Singapore. I am Christian Methodist and not particularly religious. My wife is Roman Catholic, religious but not a regular church goer. We would like a Roman Catholic baptism.

Do we need to be attending and participating at a church here before they would accept christening our daughter? Or can we just walk into a church, make an advance appointment and have the baptism on the day?

A jumping-off point of churches and contacts. Baptism usually requires registration at the very least.

Take a gander at some of the individual parish websites; they'll have numbers there so you can call and ask.

Catholic churches here will ask to see the confirmation documents

Other than that, no restrictions, as both of you are Christians !!

Catholic Churches have scheduled christening ..

Eg:

elsewhere, the God Parents are not subject to so much restrictions, nor do the parents have to even produce the Confirmation ;)
