Greedy landlords have been responsible for quite a few business closings and increased prices to consumers.

I've seen it happen several times already. Popular food places close because the landlord thought "Oh, he's doing good business; I will charge him more!"
"A quokka is what would happen if there was an anime about kangaroos."

Sad indeed

Rising rental and costs ..

Nakatago; from what I know, most property aren't owned by local landlord, but investors. The 'managers' have no interest to make the property occupied, than to fill numbers, so they raise the rent, as they can get bonus from the actual owners, and then tenant leaves, still who cares.. it's not like the owners will demand the bonus be returned ..

Then the property stays shut as nobody wants to rent it, the managers sill get paid, and then they rent it for a lower rent than the last tenant .. and still get their commission for finding a tenant, and that's how a few property here operate !

Oh, wait, did I describe normal corporate businesses ?

PS, makes it even worse, when you find out that a fair number of property are owned by foreign owners, who have just parked money here, and don't care whether the property is occupied or not !

I think it will always be a battle for the bars towards that end of Boat Quay.

I can't imagine the rents and towards that end of Boat Quay bars n restaurants open n close with obscene regularity.

You know, you're right, which means Juban had a pretty good run by comparison. Sorry to see it go but hope we see Saint soon.

It closes end of the week. Anyone know if that means it's open this evening? I might be in the area.

Sorry to hear this. Fond memories of Eagles gatherings there. All the best to Saint and Mrs. Saint for the future.
