mary we are relaocating from switzerland to singapore in two months and so far everything as far as shipping our dog goes is REALLY expensive. Twice as much as moving to europe from the USA. Where are you moving from and when?

the fees will definitely be more than the ticket price as these are considered special freight items......you cannot lug them onto the plane with you and these will go by cargo, charged by the external dimensions of the crate used to house your dog comfortably. There will also be documentation and handling charges, pet fees to certify the dogs are fit to fly, rabies shots to be taken prior to the move, etc. Moreover, unless you're shipping from the UK, there will be a 30 day quarantine period in SIN for your dogs.
In short, unless you're fortunate enough to have your company sponsor this pet relo or you're so attached to your pets you cannot live w/o them, best is to leave them in the care of a loved one as the costs are very prohibitive.

Hello there,
We moved from US to Singapore with all three of our dogs. All you need to be sure to call Pet Hotel in Singapore , they will assist you with all the required paperworks and all others upon arrival in Singapore. We travelled with SIA and the dogs were cargo in the same flight with us and we paid about $275 extra for each dog. There will be a 30-days quaratine period. During which you can visit them during certain hours. Be sure that all medical paperworks are within 7 days of departure and called the airline regarding trevalling with pets. There are limited number of animal allowed in each flight landed. Our dogs are happy and well adjusted now. I am great that I brought them along and I can't image my life without them.

...I'm hoping you see this, and if you do, I have further questions I'd like to ask you as I'll be relocating from New York to Singapore very shortly and want to bring my little dog with me. I will be flying SQ as well, and am concerned about my baby in cargo, so any advice is appreciated!
Please email me at pei DOT chua AT gmail DOT com...I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks!
