Charity is an interesting philosophical concept, and one that seems to be much varied and at times manipulated.
I've no intention of leaving anything (bar maybe a few pictures and porcelain vases) to my children, and I think they will be better and happier people as a result. I expect and wish for nothing from my parents. Inherited wealth, especially if the possible inheritors are expecting it from a young age, seems to destroy ambition, and in parallel destroy many young people.
The trouble is to then figure out, as you get on, how quickly you should be spending it such that none is left...
